Hotel on Rivington

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great location right near a subway station. There is also a penthouse floor with stunning views of the city that provided a nice spot to work. Unfortunately, our room felt pretty grimy and unclean. The floors were sticky and the chairs in the room....let's just say I covered them with a towel before I felt comfortable sitting on them. The two redeeming qualities in the room were the comfortable bed and a window that opened to let some fresh air in.

Well... House keeping is 0 stars. Front desk is legit and friendly. We wanted to upgrade our room because the view from our original room was not great, and they upgraded for free. 2 days in a row, we skipped house keeping (you're welcome). Third day, we were gone and house keeping came... Took trash and brought new towels - besides that, no cleaning, no new cups/glasses, bed un-made. One of the days (day 2 or 3 of our stay) they took the shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel without replacing it - no problem, they'll leave it tomorrow... They didn't - had to ask the front desk. Oh and day 3 of our stay, house keeping came while we were getting ready and we said we'd be leaving in 20 minutes and they literally tried to negotiate with us to leave sooner. This morning, their breakfast (which is bagels and pastries) ran out. And the entire time we've been here, they don't have juice or water. Last night here, after a day out, came back and front door is locked with no one at desk, and it's not even 10 pm. Got to room and called to ask for wine and glasses - no answer. Called again 10 minutes later, surprise surprise, no answer. If you're looking for mediocre, on your own type of hotel, this is the place. The people that work at the front desk are super nice... BUT, the service (especially house keeping) is exceptionally unimpressive.

They are all nice a smiles at check in, but by day 3 of our stay they could not care less about us. We didn't get our room cleaned on our last day despite informing the reception because the hotel 'prioritizes the cleaning of vacating rooms.' We had to follow up on cleaning/towels each day and the earliest we had our room cleaned was 4pm which frankly made the stay much less enjoyable.

We stayed in June of 2023, during a MAJOR renovation. The hotel is dated, but what hotel got out of the pandemic, and survived, without a little deferred maintenance. I suspect the lobby area and offices were first, then they'll move onto the rooms. It's quite the lower east side view of endless rooftops, but a nice and functional room with a really nice updated bathroom, operable windows, a nice little sitting area, and comfortable bed. This isn't a place to hang out, but a weigh station between experiencing the neighborhood and going out. It served our purposes perfectly, and the staff was FANTASTIC and really helpful. A solid option for a fun part of town, but if you're into luxury or new, you might want to inquire when the renovation is supposed to be completed, and what the plan for the rooms are. Also, if you have a sweet tooth, WATCH OUT: It's across from one of the craziest candy stores I've ever seen!

ATTENTION- it is a SCAM! The pictures do not reflect any reality. The hotel is under major RENOVATION and there is no mentioning of this ANYWHERE! Management just lies to the guests! There is no proper reception, no breakfast room, no rooftop. Everything in the room is falling apart because building was not used for 2 years! Elevator looks dirty and scratched and really unpleasant. One day they served breakfast in guest room with the bed. It was an enormous disappointment because I stayed in this hotel before covid. There is nothing left any more! Only the people at reception were nice. Shame to the hotel management for lying to the guests! They charge 400$ a night for something which is not worth even 200.

Not as advertised. Not as nice and spacious as the pictures, maybe under construction... The only mirror in the room was in the dim bathroom with a broken toilet paper holder. The happy hour did not have glasses, ran out of complementary wine, and in an oddly laid out space. Did not go back for breakfast. Not worth the money spent.
